Press release
Between 1 - 4 February 2006 the Bologna Exhibition
Centre will be hosting Europolis, Exhibitions of Technologies
for a Liveable City
Now in its eighth year, the Bologna event confirms itself
to be a major occasion for encounter and reflection on topics
concerning the territory and its development. Seven theme
shows dedicated to SITE AMENITIES AND TERRITORIAL QUALITY;
TRAFFIC, MOBILITY AND INFRASTRUCTURES; SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL
FACILITIES, SWIMMING POOLS AND FITNESS; B-VERDE - URBAN FORESTATION
& EQUIPPED GREEN SPACES; ENVIRONMENT; PUBLIC UTILITIES
and TERRITORIAL MARKETING offer a comprehensive overview of
the most innovative products and solutions for urban regeneration.
In 2004 521 exhibitors took part in the Exhibitions
of Technologies for a Liveable City, covering over 55,000
square metres of display area, with 43,055
trade professionals in attendance and over 60
conventions organised during the event.
At Europolis 2006, all
the very latest products and technologies for exploiting to
the full the opportunities deriving from new community regulations
on the topic of territorial development
The Exhibitions of Technologies for a Liveable City present
local authorities and professionals interested in the development
of urban areas with the tools required to operate in the area
along the lines set out by community policies and to reap
ensuing benefits. The development of infrastructures considered
as aids to mobility (roads, railways, public works, etc.)
and to the activities of individuals, users and companies
(computer networks, optic-fibre cabling, etc.) is one of the
major topics of new EU regulations and therefore also of Europolis
2006.
The biennial urban design show "International Exhibition
of Architecture and Design for the City" is the special
event animating the Exhibition of Site Amenities and
Territorial Quality. The initiative enhances the
decisive contribution of URBAN DESIGN to a virtuous use of
architecture and the valorisation of culture and the economy
of a town, and the links which the architectural object is
able to establish once properly collocated in the urban environment.
The products on show, selected according to the contribution
given to urban design, are presented in adjacent sections
that enhance their history and potential and the interpretations
of famous international artists and designers. The aim of
the exhibition is to develop a major sector of the design
and liveability of the city to provide Italian public architecture
with a present worthy of its glorious past and of made in
Italy. In four packed exhibition days, the local authorities
and urban works users will be able to meet major site amenity
companies to develop a constructive dialogue able to foster
numerous and significant architectural enhancement measures.
The traffic, mobility and infrastructure exhibition
of Europolis 2006 brings together in a single exhibition venue
the overall system of mobility, transport of people and goods,
infrastructures, services and equipment for territorial management.
A number of major events are currently being planned: presentation
of a road safety plan for the province of Bologna, the first
ever at national level, and an area safety network, a body
that brings together institutions, associations and corporate
bodies on the topic of road safety. Public transport and sustainable
mobility. What kind of cooperation between regions and the
big cities is the title of a large national conference on
public transport and sustainable mobility.
The major national associations in the world of transport
and the entire system of agencies are involved in a deep reflection
on public transport (rail and road).
Sport as a tool for enhancing and promoting the territory
is one of the urban activities which the Finance Act 2004
intends promoting most. The increase in major sports events
and the monitoring of existing facilities through condition
surveys and the conformity of facilities with legal requirements
are felt to be priorities by sports departments. The
Exhibitions of Sports and Recreational Facilities, Swimming
Pools and Fitness of Europolis provide a broad and
qualified overview of the sector and represent a fundamental
point of reference and verification. In-depth technical-scientific
discussion on the world of water is assured by the packed
calendar of meetings organised as part of Swimming pool Days,
which involves major associations (CONI-Italian National Olympic
Committee, Eurowellness, Assopiscine, etc).
The Bverde and Environment exhibitions, besides
a qualified show of products for urban forestation and equipped
green spaces (Playing fields and “FITNESS” trails;
Fertilisers, soils, seeds, weed killers
Fountains, tanks, vases, ponds; Botanical and zoological gardens;
Greenery building and maintenance companies; Irrigation; Pergolas,
gazebos, plant protection; Equipment and facilities for green
area lighting) offer a packed calendar of meetings involving
major companies and the most authoritative industry associations.
Among the topics to be discussed will be multi-functionality
in agriculture: seminars will be organised at Europolis whose
purpose is to illustrate to local authorities the environmental,
social and economic advantages offered to farmers. This way,
local authorities that intend concretely availing themselves
of such services can become immediately operative for the
maintenance of public green areas, parks, woodland, forests
and wetland areas, the management of biomasses, sound-dampening
barriers, the most complex building of sports facilities,
hanging gardens, cleaning ditches and snow removal.
The Public Utilities Exhibition dedicates
a large meeting to the single management of public utilities.
After transition from municipally-owned enterprises to joint-stock
companies, public utilities are today undergoing yet another
profound revolution which sees them as managers of the protection
of city services and urban furnishings.
Territorial enhancement necessarily passes through an adequate
territorial marketing policy. An important technical meeting
on social housing will enhance the exhibition proposals of
Europolis 2006. Management of the metropolitan real-estate
heritage has undergone strong changes and private companies
and builders are finding this new market highly attractive.
The appointment has the triple purpose of: putting large building
companies into contact with national territory projects, triggering
Project Financing plans, and prompting the need to adopt standardised
models of procedure which still do not exist in Italy.
Between 1 – 4 February 2006, with the eighth Exhibition
of Technologies for a Liveable City, major urban development
actors will be meeting in the Bologna Exhibition Centre to
upgrade public wellness and quality.
